"The Slow Web"

Friday 16 October 2009 / 19:00 / Theater Kikker , Utrecht, The Netherlands Free entrance

Impakt Online exhibits art projects designed for the Web. We invite and support artists to create new work. During the Impakt Festival, Impakt Online will officially launch the new online exhibition "The Slow Web" with a talkshow. In this talkshow, projects from the last two Impakt Online programs "The Slow Web" and "It's About Time" will be presented by their artists. In "The Slow Web," just like in the Slow Food movement, the Web is slowed down and its features rediscovered. In the "It's About Time" program, Impakt Online invited artists to develop projects reflecting on the new notions of time on the Internet.

Speakers:

Richard Rogers (VS/NL) will present the IP Browser, a project by Alex Galloway and the Govcom.org Foundation. The IP Browser creates an alternative browsing experience that foregrounds the Web's machine habitat and returns the user back to the basics of orderly Web browsing. The Web starts here!

Constant Dullaart (NL) will present his Ready Mades, a collection of websites rescued from the dark depth of domains-for-sale.

Daan Odijk (NL) will present the project A Tag's Life, which depicts the life of by visualizing the rise and fall of tags at the photo sharing platform Flickr.

Theo Deutinger (AU/NL) developed World At Work, a work which zooms out and introduces a new world clock representing the worldwide 9 to 5 economy real-time.

The evening is hosted by Sabine Niederer, curator of Impakt Online.
